SONIC DRILLING EQUIPMENT IN BC, THE YUKON AND PRAIRIE PROVINCES
Drill faster, work smarter with sonic drilling equipment from BC’s SPS Mining Supplies Ltd. These advanced tools and methods allow an 80% reduction in contaminated waste. The sonic head can also reduce sampling times by half and with less than 1% drill deviation.
Sonic drilling is a high-frequency drilling technique that generates resonant energy inside the sonic head. During the drilling process, this resonant energy is delivered to the bit face at various sonic frequencies. Sonic drilling can be used in multiple projects based on site-specific conditions.
Superior well construction, flexible single-bore holes, and minimized risk — these are just some of the benefits of sonic drilling equipment and tooling. Call SPS Mining Supplies today.
OPERATION AND WORKING OF SONIC DRILLING
At first, the core barrel is advanced to the depth of the targeted area. The sonic drill liquefies the soil or rock (based on the project) using its high frequency and vibrations. Then the core barrel is overridden with a casing so that the desired sample is untouched by the external factors.
Once the casing reaches the depth of the core barrel, then it is removed, and the sample is collected. Sonic drilling is effective in most ground conditions.
BENEFITS OF SONIC DRILLING
There is no doubt that sonic drills offer versatility as you can effectively and efficiently sample fine sand, penetrate bedrock floats and boulders, among others. Sonic drilling can assist you with infrastructure, construction and development, mining, and environmental projects.
The benefits of sonic drilling are:
Sonic drilling is faster, cleaner, and safer to use.
It has high frequency and low amplitude.
You can collect high-quality core and water samples.
You can perform multiple sampling projects with a single drill.
Sonic drilling offers minimal borehole deviation.
You can collect an undisturbed sample, unlike in other drilling methods.
